Sean’s Been Found
Sean had gotten into a fight a moment ago and he is aware that if someone is tracking him, then it’s probably too late to hide the body very well. He does manage to hide it in a dumpster and then leave. He does have a haven, but it occurs to him that this might not be the best place to go but he can’t come up with something better. He stops by a store to get garlic and hangs it inside of the entrance area of his haven in hopes it might do something. He goes down to his surgery room and slakes his hunger with some blood bags, then goes and changes clothes so that he’s more presentable - a nice, but cheap, suit. He otherwise kind of tidies up the place and then heads out.
Sean calls Brett, who picks up in his car phone located in the center console. Brett answers and Sean asks for a meeting to talk about the events from earlier, specifying a strip club. Brett asks everyone in the coterie if we have any issues with nearly naked women - he’s met with a resounding silence and Lorn eventually speaks up asking if we’re really going to a strip club, disgust clear. Brett admits that he would have chosen anywhere else if it were up to him, and we go.
We find Sean and Brett walks up and grins at him, explaining we are getting a private booth. We go back and settle in and Brett asks what’s going on and Sean comments that we are here to discuss overthrowing his Sire. Brett is surprised and tells him to stop and calm down. There’s some back and forth and Sean ultimately admits that he wants his Sire put down, and Brett asks what it is that Sean can give us. Two prostitutes come in.
Two thin-blood prostitutes come in:
- Adelaide - red head
- As of yet unnamed thin-blood prostitute
Sean and Brett argue about if the prostitutes should be here. Brett ultimately offers the prostitutes his blood and winds up enticing them to stay despite Sean’s best attempts to persuade them otherwise. Brett’s offer is this: Sean drink from his blood and he will help Sean with things once his Sire is put down. Sean calls Brett insane for wanting to fight his Sire and Brett says that he is not a fighter: he will cut off his supply of blood, his supply lines, infiltrate his social circles, and the like. Sean will be his ticket in.
Brett lays it down: his ultimate offer to Sean is that he will make sure that Sean doesn’t get strung up and killed alongside his Sire as Camarilla Tradition dictates. Brett has money, he has resources, all he needs is Sean’s fealty - either agree now, or leave.
Sean decides that the business is done and he gets up and leaves, noticing one of his Sire’s pack members watching him leave. Brett notices that it reeks of dog suddenly. He pays the two girls $100 each and says he needs to leave, but he’ll find them again and make up for this little incident. He looks at the rest of the group and says we need to leave because there’s a dog outside.
Garf asks what we got out of this and Brett says we got nothing, but we did learn that even the slimiest of rats will follow the crumbs right to the trap. He’ll come back around eventually.
We all head out of the strip club. As we leave, Lorn notices a gentleman - an Asian man - at the end of the bar that he locks eyes with for a moment. He looks somewhat familiar for a moment, as if I’ve seen him around the local area. He gives the head nod of goodbye. Lorn sees a shimmer in his eyes that’s different from more Kindred. Lorn gives him a small little bow of goodbye and then turns to follow the group - he’s interested and will remember this face.
Dawn and Lorn
Upon making it back to the haven, Dawn immediately goes to meet with Lorn’s Sire, Oliver Medvedík. He’s in the Library reviewing his spells and notes, ghouls doing some work around the library - the usual bustle as the night winds down before day. Dawn lets Oliver know that the book was surrendered to the Princess, which makes Oliver less than pleased. He has a level of disgust to the Princess - he’s somewhat appalled that she has that position to begin with.
Oliver comments that he supposes that she can hold onto it and he can perhaps make a requisition. Dawn, sideways, asks what the process of a requisition is in order to obtain an item that was wrongfully taken. Oliver takes the ring off and approaches Dawn and says that if he had known that his little love affair would have brought him this much trouble, he would have never opened Dawn’s casket. He gives Dawn the ring and says that Dawn is free to do what he wants. If Dawn wishes to stay, then Oliver’s request is simple: do as he says. He runs this establishment, he runs this family, and after the collapse they must stay together. The fact is that these are his terms. If Dawn leaves, he will not hunt him down. If Dawn wants more answers, then the Nosferatu that the Princess keeps in her employ can uncover secrets that have long been hidden.
Oliver comments that Dawn doesn’t understand the power that ring possesses, but Dawn will understand eventually. Dawn comments that only one of them has a misunderstanding, and it’s not Dawn - Dawn says that Oliver has made the correct choice. Run the family how Dawn wishes to run it, and stop interfering with others. Dawn turns to leave.
Lorn follows after Dawn and asks what the hell that was, and Dawn turns to Lorn a little too quickly with a stone-faced expression. Dawn stops and looks at him for a moment, and then aggression seeps out of his shoulders and Dawn just looks exhausted by the end of it. He holds up his fist that he is holding the ring in and says that Lorn’s Sire stole his own Sire’s ring off of his sleeping body and held it for ransom. It is the only reason that Dawn has been present here of late, and the only reason that Dawn went to get the god-forsaken book. Lorn starts to stutter and apologizes, that he didn’t know, that—
Dawn stops Lorn’s stuttering to help him save face and explains that he had noticed Lorn’s sewing and just assumed that Lorn had been in on all of this. Lorn explains that by the time he had come into this, the ring was not there - it had already been taken. Dawn decides that Lorn is telling the truth based on his reaction to all of this, and apologizes for his presumption. Lorn admits that were he in Dawn’s position, he would have come to the same conclusion himself. He offers to drive Dawn home, which Dawn accepts.
Oliver is pissed by the time Lorn gets back home from dropping Dawn off. Oliver rummages through some books and comes to the conclusion that the book is not important right now, what’s another 100 years or so. The book will come back around, there will be someone more amicable, more ambitious, they’ll make a mistake… He sees Lorn and calls to him, asking him to tell him about the business with the Princess. Lorn explains all of the events leading up to returning here.
Oliver first says that Sean is a fucking idiot, then comments that he wouldn’t be surprised if Sean is a Caitiff. He comments that Sean has issues with authority and doesn’t have the proper fear or respect for the Camarilla that he’d expect.
Oliver has a proposition for Lorn: what say he enter as the primogen for the Princess’s court. Lorn is taken aback and comments that he would be honored and how could he refuse?
