Session Date: 01/27/2025
Session Begin: The Grave Yard
When we left off, we had plans to contact an undead working for the Warhawks. He doesn’t know a specific person, but he knows where the friendly undead meet in Jewel: The Grave Yard. He explains that the undead there don’t necessarily care to see Kincaid succeed, but it is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the people.
Getting in is something like getting into an illegal speakeasy - you have to find the entrance, then know the right password. They ask can you dig it, and Tabby responds he’s dying to see it.
Gurt is behind the bar, but there’s something not quite right about him. Bosch approaches and greets Gurt warmly, and the person behind the bar explains they’re a spirit that takes on the form of whatever makes us most comfortable, though the voice sure doesn’t change.
The drinks here are liquor or coffee, no beer. Bosch tries to have fun by ordering something complex, then pulling in something off menu, and then orders a triple coffee. As we sit down there is some polite applause as a banshee or something similar gets on the stage and reads a poem.
Bosch & The Fortune Teller
Bosch approaches a spirit that looks like a fortune-teller type, and starts asking about who might have sent the skull our way. He has a nice conversation with the ghost overall, talking about the hauntings that the spirit has done and how he feels about being a spirit.
Bosch comes up with plans for the evening to haunt somewhere that he or the ghost has beef with, somewhere not important.
Tabby, Mary, and Orvel
Tabby approaches a man that is an elf or half elf, rather attractive. He has red hair and is drinking something red - full bodied, we’re sure. He admits outright that he is a “child of the night”. Tabby asks if he knows anything of the Warhawks, and he comments he doesn’t think so. As Tabby mentions the Warhawks, someone spills their drink and curses - Mary and Tabby both hear this. The vampire doesn’t leave this place very often, he’s just living his best underlife.
The man who spilled his drink tries to glance at Mary sneakily, but Mary and Tabby both notice. Tabby goes up to him and introduces himself, and comments the man may have information to benefit them both. The man tries to deny, then invites Tabby to sit. He was a member of the Warhawks for a while, he messed up and they tried to kill him, and they failed at that. Someone tried to help him move on, but now he’s stuck on the edge. He doesn’t want any trouble, he just wants to live out the rest of his days.
Tabby offers that perhaps Mary can help him, as she is a healer. She introduces himself as Orvel Onions.
Faylen & the Baobhan Sith
Tomás Mac Alasdair - the vampire - sits down next to Faylen and starts talking to him. There’s something wrong about this guy - it’s not a vampire name. Faylen thinks on it and he’d first noticed Tabby (connected to the fae - not directly connected to undead, but some fae do things like the undead). There’s a kind of fae called a Baobhan Sith that is a fae that pretends to be a vampire.
Faylen asks Tomás what a fae is doing here, and he immediately loses his suave and tells Faylen to be cool, he’s pretending to be a vampire. He explains that he likes to drink blood and it’s easier to say he’s a vampire rather than try to explain being a baobhan sith and he drinks blood and etc, etc. They continue to talk.
Orvel explains he was stupid when he was alive, 2 months ago. He joined the Warhawks because he just wanted some organization in his life, or whatever. He found out that the Warhawks was all about subjugation. He told them to shove it, and they threw him off a bridge. He resurfaced in the sewers and a mummy told him that it was time to join the legions of the undead and prepare the world for the coming of the cadaver. He cursed Orvel, and then Orvel ran away. He was found by a weird little guy who helped him and commented that it would be interesting to see how he “developed”.
He says he will be eternally grateful if we can help him, and Mary and Tabby encourages us to leave the bar and find somewhere quiet to help him.
Tabby comes over and grabs Faylen on the way out, and Tomás looks about to say something, but Zada Nix was coming in and drags him away.
Helping Orvel
We go with Orvel to somewhere quieter and more solitary. Mary takes a little while to meditate and gather herself, and then she uses the Seal of Infinity to undo the curse. It takes a while, but she manages to use the Seal to revive the man completely.
He needs to rest, but he will be fine. The evening winds down.
A Haunting
Bosch goes with the spirit to haunt someone and overall they manage to unnerve the people there. Nobody was running out screaming, but they were definitely uncomfortable.
To The North
To the north is a newly-built keep that was designed to be rather intimidating, but done well enough to be hard to lay siege on. The leader of the Warhawks stands over a map of the Commonwealth, and then notices a burn appear on Jewel.
