Session Start
We head out along the coast and eventually Rdest stops and is staring intently at Misha. She asks how tall he is, takes his weight, and then takes a sample of his fur. We ask why and she explains that she needs these measurements for her magics so that she can calibrate her spells. Misha asks if he’s about to be cursed and Arythas says he doesn’t think so, but we just met her. Misha points out that Arythas speaks (it’s the first time Arythas has spoken around Misha) and Arythas rolls his eyes and continues on in silence.
Dia asks what the fur is for and she explains that she is going to school and she uses these measurements to really attune her magic so it works perfectly for everyone.
Rohan and Taraaq begin talking and is worried about Rohan’s measurements being taken while asleep. He and Taraaq talk about how Rohan weighs more than most consider because of his tail, and Taraaq worries if Rohan’s tail would grow back if it were lost.
The Coast
It’s pretty cold and dreary out as we walk. Rdest has a vague idea of the area but she never went too far this way as there’s nothing really out here. We continue along and Misha notices that there are heavy footsteps that aren’t from the party that are up north toward where we are going. The bell installed in Rdest’s device is starting to grow slightly louder. His ears swivel and he tells us to wait, there’s something coming from the north - something big. A pause. No, multiple big things. We’d have to go down toward the rocky coast to see it - across the small river before us.
Misha climbs up a tree to look and it’s more of the clockwork creatures. These are more complex than the ones Rdest’s mother was taking care of - it seems these are meant to deal with whatever defenses are in town. Three are wielding halberds and one has a slighter frame and looks more complex than the others. We discuss tactics. We do our best to hide, but combat begins.
We destroy the robots and Rdest goes through the remains of the robots and there’s a mic that’s attached to one and still live, with a speaker having a weird noise vaguely like a heartbeat coming through. Rdest has Patches, her familiar, speak through it, and a voice asks who we are. Patches introduces himself and says that we have secured the friends of this person and they are going to be taken care of and are safe. The voice says, “Alright, new strategy.”
Dia asks who they are while patching Arythas up. The voice says “you destroy my machines, and you ask who I am?” We say yes, and they say they need parts - of people, yes. The person wants to hear more of Dia’s voice and Rohan covers up her mouth to stop her from speaking, and Misha goes to look around to try to find the direction the robots came from.
The voice suddenly realizes who we are and comments they know us, and if we haven’t figured it out, then she’ll leave it a surprise. Arythas suddenly realizes this is the mad mage and she’s back somehow, and he grows angry and crushes the mic. Dia makes him sit down before he storms off and tends to his wounds while explaining what’s going on with her to Rdest and Misha both.
