What Next?

We take some time to let Mary patch us up, and the spriggan gives us some healing mushrooms. We all take the healing mushrooms. Oryeon Onyons was being a big baby but was feeling much better after Mary patches him up. Bosch recommends that he take the mushrooms despite the fact that he may not like mushrooms, and that Oryeon should really listen to Mary as she is a healer. Oryeon whines but does so, and Bosch makes a comment that he should be healed in case he gets stabbed in the back. Oryeon is surprised at the idea and he manages to stumble around to saying that he thought we were friends? Well, allies.

Oryeon tries to convince us to just leave without helping the people, and we have a small argument discussion about what to do next. The group ultimately overrides Oryeon with the logic that we need to finish what we started and help the people down here. Oryeon is obviously not very pleased but he isn’t in a place to really argue.

The spriggan genuinely doesn’t want to keep us here any longer than necessary, and he would appreciate some supplies from our ship if possible, but he will do what he can to help us: he can possibly get Ciril Minechest to be dethroned from here, and otherwise try to delay the Breakwater Company.

The City

We return to the city and there’s so much unused space because so many people have left. Oryeon comments about wanting to sell the real estate and we discuss how that is not the point of being here, and Bosch explains that money is fake and thus making money isn’t the coolest thing ever.

As we continue, The Agent, Odette, walks up to us and reminds us not to ruin the entire economy and the like. She comments that she did not promise that the Breakwater Company would clear out and we’d return the city back to their people. We discuss and convince her that we need for Ciril Minechest to either pay the spriggans for the lost crops, or he needs to work it back to them. We convince her to give this a try and she tells us to take care of Minechest and she can put him into the kidnapping bag to deliver to the spriggan once dealt with.

Dealing with Ciril

We return to the main building where Ciril Minechest has his throne built. The dwarves here clearly have no morale and so convincing them to not fight or leave will be easy, but Ciril doesn’t seem to notice.

Ciril asks us why we’re back and Mary explains we’ve won: the geyser is gone, and their plans foiled. Ciril tells us to just go away, and Mary explains that he needs to leave and repay the spriggan. Ciril asks what the point of us is and why he should do anything, and Oryeon agrees and tries to leave (stopped by Faylen and Orvel Onyons) while the spriggan loads his crossbow. Ciril comments that the threat from the spriggan makes most sense, except that he’s so small so it’s not a scary threat, and the spriggan grows to size.

Ciril admits that he will just leave when this is all over since he’s failed, and Mary explains that’s fine, but he must pay the spriggan for their loss of crops. Ciril doesn’t understand why he’s supposed to care, but he recognizes the threat from the spriggan, and Bosch and Tabby have definitely scared off his lackeys, and he recognizes that the sooner he pays up the sooner we will leave him alone. He agrees to pay the spriggans and the spriggan with us produces an itemized invoice of what is owed.

She leaves (leaving a bomb to catch Bosch by surprise, but it fizzles out) and Oryeon tries to take control of the situation again. He says that we fixed the valley issue, we helped people, and asks if there’s anything else we should do? Faylen turns to the spriggan and asks him to reach out to the nearby cities and let the displaced munsahir know that Breakwater is gone, and he says that he definitely will: they were allies, and he would like to see them return.

Oryeon admits that recognizes how valuable we were on the mission and he will suggest to the rest of the group that we do not actually have to fight. (Bosch comments that we don’t have to, and Oryeon explains that he understands how Bosch and Akker are friends.)

Back on the Construct

We debrief with Indracht Krell and he comments that there is a kobold town that we will pass by in a few days. He hopes to pass by - he doesn’t dislike kobolds, but the kobolds in that town are weird, he’s been told.

Bosch

Bosch sneaks around to fix the bomb that Odette had left, and manages to find a casing in Akker’s room. He repairs the bomb and then sets it off in Akker’s room, walking out. Akker returns to his room and comments he had nothing for Bosch, and Bosch explains the bomb was a loose end that was set up and never exploded. Akker understands entirely. Bosch had found some obsidian on the way back, but it’s gone.

Bosch tells Akker of what happened, outlining the most exciting parts of the adventure.

When he retires for the night, he leaves explosives out where they are visible, with Bosch making sure Bean is safe in her little cave with some water to keep her nice and moist. Bean’s little shelter is on the bed while Bosch is asleep on the floor. Akker definitely sneaks in and sets this off, putting out a very loud explosion that wakes up most of the construct.

Bosch wakes up laughing, and stomps out the flames.

Tabby awakens and wonders who it is, commenting that it’s probably Bosch or Akker. Widald agrees from the darkness.

Mary

Mary’s created a little clinic of her own and Dr. Cecily Sÿtz shows up to ask what Mary is doing. Mary explains that people who need help can come here, and Dr. Sÿtz says that she is here to fix broken bodies and improve them, while Mary just heals. While the two talk, Destroyer walks up. While there is normally a rhythm to its steps, it sounds off.

Destroyer comments his organs are failing, and Dr. SĂżtz is confused, thinking it was just a robot. It explains that it is a construct so he has mechanical parts, but also has organs. Bosch pops up saying he knows quite a bit about mechanical things and he can help. Destroyer is not at all thrilled by the prospect.

Dr. Sÿtz suggests taking Destroyer back to her clinic so they can work together and maybe make a friendly competition out of fixing Destroyer. Mary dismisses the idea, then sends Talitha out to get Faylen and Tabby and let them know what’s going on.

Faylen didn’t know that Destroyer was this advanced - probably a lot of this information was classified, and there was a point where automatons featuring organs were in the works (at least in theory). As Faylen understands, the organs work essentially identical to how they work in a humanoid - perhaps stronger and oriented differently, but they work the same. A heart is a heart, etc. When Faylen does make it there, Destroyer pops open its chest and both Mary and Dr. Sÿtz are pretty able to identify what’s going on.

Mary recognizes that despite Destroyer being very calm, it is in a rather precarious state. Mary cannot reverse aging or some of the damage done, but Dr. Sÿtz can, though we’ll need to stop at the kobold city to get some materials for her.

She explains that the city is called Cobalt Springs.

As Mary reviews Destroyer, Dr. Sÿtz is vaguely impressed by Mary and declares Mary her right hand woman. There’s some back and forth with Dr. Sÿtz deciding this is going to be a great partnership, and Mary disagreeing.

Cobalt Springs

We arrive and from the outside we see that the city is built in the side of a mountain, and the entire city seems to be a huge mish-mash of styles and color. The city is built more up than out.

Akker comments that this place sure is weird.
