Session Start

We are given items that will change the ancestry we project outside - it will not change our size or clothes, we will still look like ourselves, but as a different ancestry, so others might still recognize us.

Bosch takes his ring and puts it on and turns into a ratfolk. Faylen takes his ring and turns into a catfolk. Mary takes her ring and turns into an awakened giant squirrel. Tabby takes his and becomes a shoony.

We are given travel rations. She confirms the office in Brex Grana and she says that she will be phasing out the criminal activities. She recognizes her father was hurting people and she doesn’t think it’s a sustainable business plan.

Mary asks if she’s heard of Kincaid - Mary explains that he’s determined that we find him, and we are determined to not. Mary says she’s unsure of what will happen when he hears that we are part of her organization, and Clapperclaw replies that it takes a lot to make him angry enough to act. They deal with very different spheres of influence - she actively avoids the spheres he winds up occupying.

We begin traveling and make good time as Tabby leads us. He’s able to forage for us and we are traveling in as much comfort as we can. We make it to a town and find a procession: there are guards and the like, and Oryeon Onyons is there. We quickly duck back into the trees and Oryeon is pleased to see us move out of the way, but does not recognize us. Faylen and Mary can tell that he’s absolutely terrified, but in way too deep - he can’t get out of this, or doesn’t see how to get out of it. Mary notices that Oryeon isn’t the only crucial person here - there’s a person here that looks almost like who Oryeon may want to be: a scholarly wizard who is looking over papers. They are traveling in the direction of the wasteland.

The wasteland has this shimmering blue sand in the desert. Before it is a small camp and Faylen recognizes that these are researchers. We approach

Bular is a lizardfolk - he runs this little camp. He says that they’ve been doing pretty well and then he walks Faylen through the charts - they’ve charted almost 30% from the interior.

Bosch comments that Izoraxx is wanting to close this all down because he wants to get rid of anything with Axamonar’s name off of it. Bular agrees and comments that they are aware of this and they’re going to continue on.

There’s the famous witch of the wasteland, and there are more creatures down there. There’s some more conversation and small talk but Faylen does eventually warn that there’s a rather large force from Izoraxx approaching. There’s some back and forth where they have some pleasant smalltalk before Faylen reviews the papers. He specifically tries to commit the actual mappings to memory

There are giant sand worms out there but they haven’t met anything specific. There might be something inside that was ignoring them, or running from them. Hard to say.

Faylen begins signing the paperwork and as he’s signing there’s an explosion of green sparks and a teleportation as the wizard that they were expecting appears. He announces he’s here to stop the research because it is worthless and there’s a better use of tax dollars than this, and nobody cares. Faylen argues with the wizard to point out that some things seem worthless at the time but become incredibly important discoveries - distracting him long enough for Bosch to steal his identification card. Bosch tries to sneak off but the wizard sees him and tells him to stop.

The wizard complains and starts to argue that he’s an official and he has commands from Archmage Izoraxx and we must shut things down here. Bosch asks to see his identification, which he cannot provide. (We learn his name is Ree Rasmussen somewhere in all of this.) After some more back and forth, Bular interjects to say that he simply will not stop his life’s work because a wizard teleported in and told him to stop without having any formal identification (politely, of course), and then Ree threatens to return with guards to dismantle the camp. Ree teleports away.

Once he’s gone, we offer to help Bular move his camp so that he can continue his research. He tells his team he plans to move and those that wish to come with may, and those that do not wish to come may go home - it is their choice. Some people do leave, but they at least help pack the camp up first. Faylen takes in the scene and starts to direct the best way to move things and the camp is packed up and moved in record time.

We enter the wasteland to find a place for the camp.

The Wasteland

Some centuries ago there was a magical event that happened here - that’s why it’s here, after all. The first thing they checked was if there’s adverse effects for living here, but there isn’t. Bular comments that they had planned to have some people camp here to make sure it’s fine, but apparently we’re skipping a few steps!

Bosch tastes the sand and finds it sweeter than normal sand, and it’s also colder. Bular asks what the sand is like and Bosch talks about it and comments it about some other specific kind of sand, giving enough detail that the researchers will have to look into this more in depth.
