Session Date: 01/20/2025
Combat Resumes
Opening the session, Tabby finishes off the female devil, and she dissipates as she’s shunted back to wherever she came from. Bosch is healed by Mary as Talitha finally manages to get the contract for Mr. Scab from Zeth Seegmiller, then scurries over to Bosch to hand it to him. Bosch slams the shelf he’d picked up over Mr. Scab, and then takes the paper from Talitha. Faylen takes care of the other devil, and then Mr. Scab uses a fire mote against Bosch, and it destroys the contract. Mr. Scab faints.
Zeth starts to throw a little fit saying that he’s the only one that can fix things, and that we can still fix it if we give him the Seal of Infinity. He’ll make us his partners, he says, and he’s a very powerful man. Bosch pulls Zeth down to his level and asks why he didn’t get pissed when Bosch tried to provoke him, and Zeth says he doesn’t get pissed off. Bosch gets frustrated and leaves, looking for things to burn and documentation to make people hate Zeth more.
Mr. Scab’s real name is Magarren Talbot (Mr. Scab). He wakes up and immolates Zeth Seegmiller, then comments he’s ready to go to jail. He explains that if he has a trial he’ll be able to speak and have a platform, and Mary says that there are others that will testify to back up his story.
Bosch returns during this discussion and had accidentally mixed some of the documents and the burnable items, but he still has a good amount of documentation to give to Torchy. We leave as the building goes up in flames and Talbot acknowledges he can’t get his previous life back, but he hopes he can have a future.
We find Torchy, who is grinning and watching the flames. She’s glad she’s met us and Bosch suggests that she be Talbot’s lawyer, which she rejects as she is not a lawyer. She’s pleased about this and the story and she looks forward to this. She comments she’s going to get to the next story, but Bosch does convince Talbot and Torchy to talk about what happened for Torchy’s story.
Firefighters, police, and gawkers start to amass. Torchy and Talbot start to speed run their conversation as the firefighters work toward getting the fire under control.
Axamonar shows up and casts some spells to help what’s going on. He casts some spells to help with the fire, then notices us and comes over and asks how things are. Mary explains that we’re helping with the fire, but everything else (wink wink nudge nudge) was taken care of. Axamonar is happy to hear that. We go back to the apartment.
The Apartment
We brief Axamonar and he comments that he’d love if something happened to Izoraxx, though we are probably not up to that at this time.
Axamonar asks what we’re doing next, and Faylen comments that Kincaid has one, and Bosch reminds that the Warhawks have another. The Warhawks have tried to be a nuisance, but Kincaid’s given some actual concrete threats.
Axamonar comments that Kincaid will be hard to find. He says that we may be able to find a current employee or former employee of Kincaid to help us track the gangster down.
Tabby recommends trying to find a member of the Warhawks that was formally under Kincaid and two birds, one stone, you know.
We catch Besso Tunnelly slinking out of the kitchen with a sandwich. He greets us and Bosch negotiates a deal: in exchange of information of Kincaid’s location, Bosch can give the location of a rather large treasure. Besso says that he has some lessers that he could throw at this, but we’ll need to do a job for The Highest Bidder.
