Leaving Jewel
Bosch makes one of those little stick and linen bundles for bean and there is a moment where he dusts his hands off while standing in front of a pile of small wreckage/a mess left in the apartment. He had a room, now it is a space with a large pile of junk.
Tabby is restless is is ready to hit the road.
Mary picks up any unusual or helpful herbs she can find that is useful, especially as we head up north.
On the way out of town, Faylen stops at the game equivalent of Starbucks and gets a very, very fussy coffee.
We make it to where Axamonar wanted to meet us and there is a teleportation circle waiting for us. He explains that there is a project going on up north and we will be part of it, and his friend will explain when we get there. Faylen asks if we will be branded infidels, and Axamonar says no, and then asks why that matters? Bosch asks if Axamonar knows Salaavethor, and Axamonar says that he does. Axamonar asks if Faylen stole an idol from someone, and Faylen admits that he did. Axamonar explains that the idol stealing is something he does for his collection and to stir up chaos. He confirms that Sal is a dragon.
Axamonar explains he has to stay in Jewel to deal with the political issues that have risen with the death of Zeth Seegmiller, and he will inquire after our undead problem while we go after the Warhawks. He explains that much of the politics here will stand against the undead, but the Warhawks can be somewhat helpful so he will meet resistance dealing with them through bureaucracy. Orvel Onyons is impressed that we are friends with Axamonar.
Axamonar explains that we are going north to build a town with a large vehicle and building. The town will be built within minutes and if we build the town, then people should come and live there. They want everyone to be as comfortable as fast as possible, so the idea is to build as much of the town as possible with the item and a lot of magic. The Breakwater Company has suddenly bailed on this effort, going elsewhere to build their own town. As long as we get there and build first, then we will have the rights to it, but if Breakwater wins then the town will be a company town and Breakwater will get the resources up there.
Once the city is built, we will have to travel further north to the keep, but we will have the town as a base of operations. The dwarves will be traveling under ground, so Axamonar is going to use Izoraxx to slow them down and delay their start. We need to head up and beat them, and he gives the warning that the machine is slow to turn so we need to be careful.
Axamonar mentions that the Dark Demesne is being loud right now, and there is a lot of activity going on there.
The Sage turns our attention to Destroyer, the assigned leader of this little expedition, though he does not own this actual mission. Bosch introduces himself enthusiastically and is glad to meet someone with similar interests, to which Destroyer explains they only wish to build. Destroyer hands us some IDs and they generate our faces and it’s clear we are designated as support. When we push a couple of symbols on the card, we are teleported inside of the structure. There aren’t many people here, and most of them are hobgoblins.
We are teleported into a wooden corridor, and there are clearly no windows. Destroyer takes us to meet the leader of this expedition (who is drowning in paperwork). Indracht Krell is the name of this man; he’s a hobgoblin scholar that knows how to work the magic construct that creates the town. This is a live proof of concept.
Someone comes in saying he has notes, and we all turn: a younger spellcaster that is a wizard of some kind, very haughty. He barges in and asks who we are, and Indracht explains we are from Axamonar. The young man that walks in is clearly the Faylen version of Izoraxx, and he is just as awful as the man he likes. Indracht comments that he will deal with some of Oryeon Onyons’s comments, by which mean just puts a large stack of papers into the trash.
Oryeon takes his leave and Orvel is hyperventilating. Faylen asks if he’s okay, and Orvel comments that his brother is Oryeon. Faylen apologizes at his misfortune. Indracht emphasizes that we need to try to avoid fighting these guys, and if we must, then don’t kill them and don’t do it inside of the construct. We agree.
Bosch
Bosch has left some while ago, and is climbing the ladder to see the view outside. He is on top of the construct at this point, taking in the view. He comments that this view is impressive, and a voice pipes up to say that it is quite the view. There is the dwarven swashbuckler that didn’t like Bosch that is behind him, and he asks what Bosch is doing here. Bosch asks what he’s doing, and he explains that he’s a productive member of society and has the sash and everything. Bosch returns that’s cool, and he’s a member of society, not sure he’d say productive.
Bosch says we’re both here, and we’re not supposed to kill each other! The dwarf doesn’t recall signing any documents about that. He comments that if Bosch has an unfortunate accident atop the construct, well, he couldn’t help, he didn’t see anything. Bosch comments that that is actually a good plan, Bosch is the type of person that would come up here and fall, and then he gives the dwarf some tips. The dwarf complains that Bosch is taking the fun out of it, and then the dwarf pulls Bosch into an almost side hug as he comments that Tabby would be quite upset of Bosch died, probably.
The dwarf asks if Bosch scares easily, and Bosch says no. The dwarf says we need to work on that. He needs to break Tabby before he hurts Tabby, he decides.
During this, Bosch manages to steal this guy’s war razor without him noticing.
The dwarf drones on about wanting to push someone off the top of this thing. The dwarf admits he’s not going to push Bosch off of the top right now because the conversation has taken too long and the moment’s passed.
(Author’s note: Widald Warblaze was this guy’s name.)
Dinner & Launch
We have our own little rooms that we can rest in, and there’s a small mess hall area. There’s about 20 people outside of the two teams that are mostly hobgoblins and humans that are nice enough, but they’ve been burned by Izoraxx’s people so they’re nervous to interact with us as well. Destroyer is just standing in the middle.
While we are here, Bosch approaches Tabby and explains that he has a message for him and delivers the message from Widald. Bosch explains that it’s the dwarf guy and shows the war razor to remind Tabby who he is. There’s a little back and forth about it, and Orvel is just anxious about running into his brother. We discuss for a bit and Orvel explains his entire family is just as bad as his brother, with his sister even worse.
There’s dwarf dressed as a noble, with an orc holding the symbol of the Breakwater Company. He explains that this situation has gone on long enough, and he tells us all to go home and they’ll just deal with this on our own. He elaborates that the machine is untested and dangerous, and Faylen pipes up to say that it’s okay to admit that he doesn’t know how this works. This makes him upset and he asks if we’ve even read the instructions, and Bosch points to Faylen, and Faylen again comments that it makes sense to him.
Mary chimes in to say that they are welcome to build their own city elsewhere if they would like, and the Breakwater representative wasn’t happy with that either. Our group continues to heckle him until he storms off and leaves.
Indracht comes in and sits down in the center of the room and for some ten minutes he continues to write runes down on the floor, and then slaps the floor when he’s done. Windows pop into existence on the ship and then the machine starts up and we begin to move. The runes sink into the construct’s materials as we really begin to move to the north.
