Night Market to Offload Sandy

Sometime within the next week…

Net makes it to one of the night markets to offload the sandy. He approaches Serpent and asks to sell it. Serpent asks what he’s charging, and Net says 10k. Serpent asks for the cut, and Net says 60/40, not in his favor. Serpent asks to be humored and asks who the other half is, and Net says the Soviet, made of apples and peaches himself.

Serpent nods and comments that the Soviet himself has been making a poor name for himself out here and has been causing issues for people around here. He says it’s Net’s lucky day and hands him a cred chip, and Net checks it to find that there’s 30k on the chip.

Serpent was the medtech that implanted the sandy into Mr. Steele while Mr. Steele and Juice were together, and that’s how Serpent came to know Juice and develop that connection.

Serpent takes the sandy and explains that he made an adjustment to that sandy, and he didn’t like Mr. Steele’s attitude. He hates Juice just as much. He deactivated the feature: the Mr. Steele we got this off of wasn’t working at his optimal. This sandy is going to be worth a hell of a lot more once he can fine tune the feature. He is not a tech, however, and he offers to partner with Net to research and improve the sandy. Net says he will consider the offer.

He sends 18k to Juice to honor the 60/40 split, keeping his 12k cut.

Sulfur & Emerick

Sulfur is pissed off beyond belief after viewing what happened to his daughter. Emerick happens to be there as well. In the moments as the recording ends, he thinks back to what Relay said and mutters, “Oh, that. That’s what you meant,” under his breath, before looking over to Emerick and asking how good he is at identifying people. Emerick says that it is partially his job, and Sulfur asks if he can try to track all of these people down and their next of kin and the like, and Emerick just gives him a nod.

Emerick asks if Relay can get him the footage, and Relay says of course, and then offers their own suite of tools that can help him track things down. Emerick says he appreciates it and he would love to take advantage of their resources.

During all of this, Emerick notices in passing that Molly has a hand in her pocket and is waiting for something.

Sulfur finally takes his gun off his shoulder and stands, commenting that he is going to go and kill these fuckers right now. Molly pulls out a tranq gun and tells him not to take another step, and Sulfur says that he’s not going to stop her. She shoots him, and Sulfur shrugs the tranquilizer off. It takes two more tranqs.

Molly explains to Emerick that she wants to know literally everything about these people: their habits, where they go, every detail they can. Emerick nods in understanding and they enter the information room and Emerick finds out where the studio is and that they have a concert on the 7th and information on the venue and the like.

Studio → Combat Zone Venue Concert → Japan Town in a very crowded area (Tyger Claw presence)

After an hour or so, Sulfur comes to and realizes that he’s chained to the bed. He tries to get up and is trying to pick the lock when he realizes that he’s chained to the bed. He hears everyone outside talking, and the reinforced door to the info room open and closed. Footsteps approach and then the door opens to Molly standing there. She asks if he’s calmed down and Sulfur answers sarcastically, asking what the cuff was.

Molly said she wasn’t going to let him run in and get himself killed, and Sulfur says he hasn’t gotten that done yet. Sulfur says the plan was just to go there and kill everyone and burn the place down, and Molly says that he isn’t a one man show. Sulfur says that he and Molly can do anything, and Molly rolls her eyes. She explains that we found…

  • Studio
    • Combat zone
    • Unpredictable
    • Gangs and violence
  • Concert
    • Japan Town
    • Crowded as hell with tons of surveillance
    • Gang presence via Tyger Claws

She says that if they’re going to do anything, we need everyone present for the briefing. Sulfur comments we need more than us, and Molly says that’s why she stopped him. He scoffs but doesn’t argue because she is correct. She explains that we Sulfur needs to bring whoever he wants to include on this and we will form a plan to deal with this.

Later on, a message goes out to the entire group to meet at a warehouse at a specific time.

The Entire Party

Net and Ryne Argue

Ryne asks a now sober Net if Net can improve his new hoverboard. Net says sure, if Ryne has the money. Ryne asks for an AV engine on the hoverboard, and net said that if he was an AV tech then he wouldn’t need to be doing any of this, and he’s not going to put an AV engine on it even if he could source one. Ryne wants this thing to actually fly, and Net says that either Ryne is going to either have to have a shit ton of money, or source an engine capable of flight for him. Net says sure, fine, but he’s not an AV tech, so it may not be that clean, and Ryne says as long as it works it’s fine.

Net names his price - 5k eddies - and Ryne agrees, shaking Net’s hand. Net comments that this isn’t eddies, why did he do that? Ryne gives him 1k eddies as a down payment, and Net thanks him and says he’ll work on it once he has the rest of the money. Ryne starts threatening Net and Net starts saying he can just walk and not help Ryne out. Ryne continues to argue and Net suggests that Ryne considers working towards making Net friend, because Net gives his friends deep discounts on work. Ryne finally grudgingly agrees.

We Finally Get to the Briefing

Once we are all there, Relay ushers us into The Vault (the information room) and Relay explains that we have information regarding a band that has connection to Sulfur that seems to have killed his daughter, Mayday. We have information pointing to where that band will be. We are given slates from Relay with the information that they have including all the band member names and their roles within the band, the information on the venue, and the information regarding their studio. They’re a punk rock band that is a little too aggressive and cringe. They’re not a good fit for the mainstream stuff.

Band member names:

  • Kandy
  • Horky
  • Malby
  • Sorpy

Studio:

This is the band’s HQ in the combat zone. It’s pretty run down, but still serviceable. The issue with the combat zone is we will face a lot of fighting on the way there and things might get messy while we’re there. Minimal civilians, so we can go in guns blazing and fuck shit up. There are roadies and groupies to be wary of. They will also be rather unpredictable. A nice thing is that all of their information and documentation will be here.

The studio will be a harder fight.

Concert:

The issue here is that there are a ton of people here, and we cannot go in guns blazing because of the civilians that will be everywhere. This will be easier to deal with kidnapping the band.

Japan Town - The Concert

There aren’t very good sightlines in Japan Town. We could try to convince the neighbors to the venue to let us inside to create our own sightlines - this would require bribing, convincing, etc. We could also try to infiltrate the staff and see if we can get privilege that way.

Net and Emerick can probably pose as roadies and sneak their way. Net comments that we would need some kind of passes to get in there as well. We also would need to keep an eye open for how they dress at their shows, what’s the general vibe and look of the people who attend their shows.

Relay has an answer to the outfits: very underground punk rock. We’ll need to source some band shirts and a few other things to make it believable. Talking will be 90% of getting in and Net has the technical know how to be the roadie, and Emerick certainly knows how to be the media for a band at this point.

Because kidnapping is the goal, we need to have a place to put them in the interim. Relay would prefer Japan Town, but Heywood would also be nearby would work okay too.

Net explains that we need to be careful with how we do this: we don’t want this to blow back on us.

Hideout:

  • Buy out a place in Japan Town
  • Find a place in Heywood
  • Sulfur’s apartment
  • Saint’s clinic

Sulfur would prefer his apartment for the poetic justice of shooting them where they shot him. Net suggests that Sulfur’s and Saint’s places aren’t good.

Studio - The Band HQ

This will either be a fully covert or a fully guns blazing operation.

Planning, Continued

We opt to go for the concert plan with Net and Em as groupies.

The issue now is we need a recon van, as they have a transport van but no recon van as they don’t typically do recon. They will take a lot of their recon equipment, and then at the end of it all we’ll scrape the VIN numbers off the van and abandon it with the corpses.

Ryne mentions the scav house with the junk and cars we could snag. We all explain what happened and what’s going on with there, and Molly checks and there is no current investigation, but there seems to be suggestion that there might be an investigation in the future. We need to go sooner rather than later to avoid the police.

It’ll be 10k eddies to pay off the band manager. Emerick says he has the money and will take care of the bribe in this case. Molly and Sulfur both ask if he’s fine with that, and he says yes, he is. They get a cred chip and Emerick puts 10k on it, and then Molly puts the cred chip in a case and sets it down on the table. She says the money will stay there and it will not go anywhere.

The Scrap Yard

Saint and Ryne opt to go, with Molly going with them to the scrap yard. We get into the flatbed tow truck and head that way. We cut the chain and open the gate and go inside. Ryne immediately dives into a pile to start digging through it and cuts his hand on some glass.

Emerick is more cautious and looks around and listens for any scavs. One of the scavs is asleep at a desk and is wearing high level scav armor, seemingly chromed out a bit. Emerick lets Molly know and they let the others know. Molly starts to sneak up to the scav at the desk, and Ryne and Saint topple something over, waking the scav. Molly jumps through the window and makes a grapple check.

We manage to keep hidden while another scav comes out and starts to walk around, patrolling the area.

True combat will begin next session.
