Session Start

We begin to head toward the capital. We’re following the main road there and it’s empty: there’s nobody here, even though it should be busy. As we move, there are stakes in the ground in regular intervals - they are everywhere, not just on the side of the road. They are going into the horizon at regular intervals.

Nymnar understands that this instrumental for whatever the project is. He has no idea who could have allowed this to happen to this extent, but these stakes are going to cause a multiversal-changing event. He’s not entirely certain what the entire plan is exactly, but he takes a look at one of the stakes and he can tell that it’s connected to Nerull. This entire plane - the entire Netherworld (or as much as is covered in the stakes) - is going to be changed and turned into a terrestial body for Nerull. This will kill everyone.

Nymnar explains this to the party. Zimri asks if removing some of the stakes will slow things down, and Nymnar explains that it’ll help as much as removing a bucket of water from the ocean. He explains that removing Shadowbane from the equation would stop them from being able to complete this ritual.

We continue on and see some fetchlings in their finest clothing in a farm house. A farmer is saying goodbye to his land and then goes to return to his house. Silver stops and asks if the farmer knows what the project is, and he says he does, and he’s okay with it - it’s for the greater glory of Nerull. Zimri tugs on Silver to move on and the man grabs Silver and says that death conquers all, with fervor in his eyes. Silver says that she knows death better than he, and he doesn’t have to rush to meet it. It’s clear she won’t be getting through to him and he calms down and returns inside of his house with his family.

Beacon

We make it to the capital and begin to see people. Everyone is in their finest clothing with a fervor going through everyone. They’re all very organized and it seems like everyone here is fully bought into everything.

In the distance we see what we think is a man wearing a helmet that shows two snakes joining into a mouth - a symbol none of us understand. He’s speaking in an older dialect that’s harder to understand but he’s speaking in the honor of Nerull and how everything eventually dies. Life is the aberration because everything stops, entropy comes for us all, and stopping life will end all suffering. The “amen” to this is “death conquers all”. These seem to be the last rites and supper.

We continue to the temple and stop for Zimri to set us up with outfits that appear as if we belong here. We see two guards guarding the entrance of the temple, swaying slightly. We walk past them and enter. We begin to look around for where to go to and Achille gets bumped into by someone, who grumbles he doesn’t have time for this. Nymnar notices that this is Maskah Deathwhisper and steps back into the shadows. He begins to follow as Deathwhisper will wind up leading us to the actual ritual site.

We follow and find a towering humanoid figure with glowing eyes beneath a helmet. There’s another something here in the shadows: Zimri sees it as a mangled conglomerate figure of bones, flesh, organs, etc - it’s a horrible thing that’s dead and in pain. Of the two figures seeing here - a confirmed necromancer and the pained thing - the flesh creature is more dangerous than Deathwhisper. Shadowbane himself is being held by chains and is too weak to get out of them. Silver explains we are friends of Soldos and Shadowbane acknowledges it.

Silver attempts to pick Shadowbane’s lock but it’s rather complex. Nymnar lets Achille know that the worst thing you can say to Deathwhisper is to ask who he is.
