Continuing On

We are put back into the room with stale air once we leave the cave. We receive no better accommodation or welcome even though we defeated the dragon that was bothering them. They continue to mainly deal with Pyrisou.

The ride to the city is awkward: everyone is silent and in reflection. Achille prays to not-Lolth.

Zimri is trying to come to terms with the fact that he almost died. Pyrisou shows up in the “doorway” and says that Zimri looks good and tosses him a healing potion. Zimri says that he didn’t do much and that Achille killed most of it with Damaris finishing it off. He comments that we killed a dragon like a hero of old and he doesn’t feel like a hero, to which Pyrisou says there are no heros.

Silver’s hackles go up when Pyrisou shows up and she moves between Zimri and Pyrisou and interrupts to say that she doesn’t agree with Pyrisou on many things — actually, she still isn’t agreeing with him even now, but Zimri is a hero today. He did well. (Pyrisou says that’s what he had said, which Silver says she’s saying it better because Silver’s a dick.) Pyrisou rolls his eyes and says “kid, I am not going to fuck you,” and then leaves. Silver and Zimri both gag and freak out.

Silver comments that it’s clear that Pyrisou wants something. She isn’t sure what, but he wants something, and that isn’t good. Damaris comments that he keeps talking about how we shouldn’t trust him and that Zimri shouldn’t trust him, but he does keep doing some nice things.

Zimri tries to defend Pyrisou and comments that perhaps he has some things that he’s working through and Silver explains that some people use a poor attitude as a shield from some kind of hurt or issue - like Nymnar does - while others are this way because they want something and they prey upon people they identify as damaged or weak. This makes Zimri defensive, saying that he’s just a guy and doesn’t have any real issues. Silver points out that the entire party is screwed up and he should lean on his friends more often - she hopes they’re friends, at least. Zimri takes this to heart. Zimri and Silver hug it out.

Silver eventually looks up to Nymnar and asks if he wants a hug and he says no. She asks if he’s sure and he still denies a hug. She tries to bargain with getting him something from the market. He ignores her and she continues to prod until Achille speaks up and asks her to be quiet.

Planning the Prison Break

We begin planning this out and Taraaq gives us some vague information about the city and what’s going on. We need to get the people together and then escape into a portal to Sigil. Taraaq explains that Sigil is the city of portals and it’s strange: it’s easier to teleport to Sigil if you know what you’re doing. It may be easier to find the portal to Sigil from the plane of water: there is bound to be at least one in the city, perhaps even in the palace itself. Taraaq explains that Sigil may look nice, but it’s dangerous.

Zimri comments that we’re already somewhere dangerous and Taraaq explains that Sigil is a different kind of dangerous: it’s a ‘train hub’ (as Silver put it) that is run by a force that doesn’t allow gods. They don’t know what the Lady of Pain is, and Silver comments that she doesn’t want to find out what that means. Achille says she’ll need to be on her best behavior.

Taraaq says that if one of us gets maze’d, then they cannot save them. He explains that if the Lady of Pain is annoyed with you then you are put into a maze. The mazes are generally fair - you can find your way out, but sometimes they aren’t.

There are wizards in Taraaq’s group that can get us out, but it will take time. He asks if we should get people out or if we should find the portal first. There are six others that we need to get out.

Silver recommends we find the portal first and then bribe some people for proper passage or to otherwise look the other way while we make our way out. Once the portal is secured we grab the people and hurry out.

Pyrisou speaks up and explains that he is the best one for an extraction. Zimri comments that we should hear him out and he suggests we find the portal and then we convince the people around it to give it a wide breadth, and then he waits. His suggestion is to do this quietly: once we get there, the pirates are gone, and he burned a substantial favor on us. He explains that he gets to purge himself of the emotional baggage of feeling emotions over one of us. He comments he got over his crush after seeing Achille in this iteration.

We begin to speak and we find out from he pirates that they’re aware that Taraaq has escaped and they’re going to execute the prisoners. So we need to find the closest and easiest to get to portal area. We have to either do a subtle prisoner swap or a very blatant in your face hero rescue moment.

The City

The city is designed to be livable for people who cannot breathe water. We are dumped into the harbor by the pirates.
