Summary

Bosch has burgled a swanky inn called The Copper Lily.

Mary and Tabby spoke to a gentleman - Mardell - that wanted to buy our piece of the Seal of Infinity. Talitha stole all the notes from the mayor and give them to Carver so that they can get rid of Grey Cloward.

The group met the group called the War Hawks that really want to go to war with someone somewhere at some time. The people the group met are the lowest possible level, and will never be a higher level because they are not particularly intelligent. There are definitely people who are higher up that are more dangerous overall.

Note: We will have the drained status until we leave.

Faylen & Mary

Faylen has been resting and spending time in the Adamant Guard tower that Carver has erected in town. For the first time in a long while he receives a letter for himself - it’s from his sister. A lot of the letter is her teasing Faylen about his stories. She actually helped Sage Axamonar find Clement, who was kidnapped by someone. She is still around the academy and is in Jewel most of the time, so she shares some gossip from the school and the city that she knows that Faylen would care about.

Faylen also gets a letter from Axamonar, which is much shorter. The letter says that he will join with the party soon, and help us here soon. We have three people that we have to find and deal with, so he will at least help us somewhat along the way.

Mary does come to visit and fill Faylen in on what all is going on. She ultimately asks if Faylen thinks we should tell Carver about the Seal, and he asks what the others think.

The Metropolitan Observer is the Commonwealth-wide paper, owned by Zeth Seegmiller. The first page is something local to Jewel, but there is an opinion piece about adventurers. It ultimately talks about how we shouldn’t put the fate of the Commonwealth into the hands of adventurers: they could be ex convicts, drunkards, too old, or too young, etc.

We tell Carver about what’s going on, and he explains he can’t tell the Adamant Guard because the leader of the Guard is a close friend of Zeth Seegmiller. We walk him through what we know, including the three people that we caught glimpses of:

  • Zeth Seegmiller
  • The undead mob boss Kincaid
  • A female warrior
    • Possibly the leader of the War Hogs
      • Compound in the north

Faylen asks if perhaps Carver can try to find out where these others may be, and he says he can ask around. He can’t actually do all of this through official channels but he might have some friends who might have some information.

Tabby

Tabby had gone to get information from the local taverns. Tabby doesn’t find a lot - he mostly hears gossip around the town. He does learn that the people of the city don’t want the War Hogs around, and if they allow the War Hogs in one place, more show up there. The overall vibe is that they want the group gone.

As the conversation that Mary, Faylen, and Carver are having winds down, Tabby comes back and announces he has found nothing particularly useful.

Bosch

He was out doing a project when last we saw him. He returns to find that all of his work was for nothing, and that it all dissolved. After this, he goes back to the V’s to see what Vim is doing. Vim is busy poking the reality-altering shadow with a stick when Bosch comes up, and Vim asks if Bosch can ever do anything normal for once. Bosch mentions that we all have different definitions of normal, and when they have to explain what normal is, they realize they have no idea what they’re talking about. Bosch asks what their definition of normal is.

Vim ultimately says that this - the shadow substance - is not normal.

Bosch explains that he does do regular stuff: he does hang out, he does play cards, etc, but there has to be more to life than just that.

Vim asks what to do with the shadow, and Bosch says to use it to decide something isn’t real and break into somewhere. Vim admits that breaking into a place does sound fun, and that it might be fun to do a heist with Bosch and maybe even Tabby if they could convince him, but Faylen is a… Square. 😔

Vim admits that as much as he likes all of us, the issue is that the V’s don’t have much in the way of experience, and they just don’t want to get in our way. Bosch realizes that they are going to be leaving. Vim admits that we are their friends, and Vim struggles with saying it, Vogue looking proud at the fact Vim admitted it. Vim suggests that we all go get drinks - with the rest of the group - a nice way to hang out and say goodbye,

The Whole Group

Tabby knows of a nice gnome tavern that we can be at, and we all find a corner that’s comfortable to sit in. We have small talk with the V’s and then discuss our next steps. We agree that going to Jewel makes the most sense to find our next steps. We need to figure out how to get there - Carver might be able to give us a teleport to a city near a train station.

Faylen also has the letter from Axamonar - he has hand written instructions to contact him directly. He could also teleport us to Jewel, but that would come with all of the pomp and circumstance of Axamonar’s flair.

We feel that we want Carver’s help teleporting, and then take the train to Jewel. Carver warns us that he has to include us in the report, but he says that this is advantageous in that the teleport happening is not all that out of place because we helped Carver and the people of Shelmourne.

Over night, Bosch works to make his shredded plushie with the shadow goop to make it look like there’s a whole line of marvelous miniature plushies causing problems. This plushie was a plush unicorn bunny.

Carver explains that each Adamant Guard facility has a teleportation circle, so he can transport us to another tower. He will send us somewhere with a train station so that we can get on the train to Jewel.

With Talitha deputized, we cannot fully use any Adamant Guard facilities, but we can leave messages for Carver that will not be intercepted. He does warn that anyone in the Adamant Guard can read them so we should not use all details, but if we leave a note then he or his steed will come to help us.

We make it to another city and after a few hours (and Faylen’s insistence on first class) we board a train headed for Jewel.
