Session Start
Dia and Arythas go to find the Dean or administrative lead to let them know that the astronomy? astrology? professor blew up his tower and experienced some kind of mental break.
Dia and Arythas then find Rohan and are joined again by Inky and Iskra to go visit Mx. Trans the transfiguration professor. Rohan spins his yarn about a client that is in need of help with polymorph.
The professor explains that therapy is the best way to fix the mind of someone polymorphed for quite some time, but it is tricky because it cannot just start that way. The person who is polymorphed needs to be able to understand a language while currently polymorphed - it’s quite a process. Mx. Trans explains the spell and process to do this, and it’s rather complex and advanced. Mx. Trans ultimately asks who would do such a cursed thing to someone, explaining that they have tenure and thus we can trust them to help, and we politely let them know this is not a danger they should help us with.
We receive a stack of notes from them about this conversation. We return to the Bloodsoaked Banner to give Soldos an update, explaining Atropos and what’s going on. Kestrel St. Clair then lets Soldos know we are about to kidnap Gus and explains that the way media is going to spin this is that a beloved pet was stolen, rather than something else.
We take accounting of the thuuls:
- The Lady - we have taken her shipment
- The Loser - largest, on another continent with the hobgoblin empire
- The Old Man - same continent, have a general rea of where that shipment may have gone
- In the vicinity of Iskra’s home village
Iskra is less than thrilled about the old man’s shipment being around Iskra’s home. Iskra essentially explains that he feels that talking to his family makes things worse and Soldos says that Iskra is not the type to leave his family hanging. He did get a letter put together to send, but he still just isn’t feeling very good about all of this, once again letting himself get stuck on the things he did in the past that he is not proud of. Rohan chimes in to explain that Iskra’s been doing good since then, trying to help, and Soldos comments that everyone present has probably done things they aren’t proud of.
Iskra comments that he doesn’t want to lose his family again, and Dia explains that the best way to lose them is to push them out. There’s a long discussion about therapy.
We move on to discussing the plan to kidnap Gus. We review that the collar has a tracking curse on it, so we were going to put it on the train underground. The question of if we should have it so that it’s obvious Dia took Gus and if that would be a good idea. Rohan is worried if we put this into his face he’ll be aware that the tracking on the train would be a red herring, and suggests we do things more subtly. Arythas points out the whole point is to provoke him and taunt him, and the real question is if we should be doing that.
Soldos explains that the issue with removing her father from the head of The Family of Light is that we cut the head off the snake, and then the entire Family would go to war. Dia discusses what would happen: who would wind up being the leader, who’d take over the religion, and the like. Inky can keep Gust invisible for 7 minutes, or Gust and one person for 3. Kestrel offers to take the collar to the train.
Inky proposes we get Gust to the ground and load him into a large cart of vehicle so that we don’t have to actually worry about getting him far away while being visible. We do like this idea and the thought is to take Inky up with Dia to the room since he can cast invisibility and pick locks, Kestrel goes up to grab the collar to head down to the train with it. Soldos will help prepare transport. She recognizes that as much as she wishes to go north with Gus, she should not, and she writes a letter to Bertram explaining the situation.
