Traveling to Sigil
Pyrisou comments that we need to get to the Netherworld and that it will be hard now because he killed his two guys. Pyrisou comments that he was in a mood and, well, you know. There’s some back and forth and Achille speaks up suggesting everyone go do something else while he has a conversation with Nymnar. Silver wants to go to see what the conversation but Damaris grabs both her and Zimri and politely brushes Pyrisou off. Pyrisou comments they need to prepare and that the coast is the easiest way to get there, which makes Damaris less excited.
Achille and Nymnar
Achille asks why Nymnar said Soldos’s name and Nymnar explained that he was telling them why he couldn’t return to the Netherworld: he was captured and kept prisoner of Soldos. Achille asks if he wants to go back, and Nymnar asks if Achille would want to go home if he were taken away? Achille says no. He asks if Nymnar can see how that information might have put people in danger, and Nymnar comments that he believes in Soldos’s ability to protect himself. Achille meant the people here, and Nymnar comments he believes in Achille’s ability to protect the people here. Achille tells Nymnar that if he does anything to endanger the people here, then he will not hesitate to hurt him. The conversation ends.
The Rest
Zimri comments asking how they were supposed to know they weren’t imperial, and Silver agrees. Pyrisou asks that they thought that he was imperials? Silver comments that we had fought the imperials and so it was a good bet. Pyrisou comments that the timetable was moved up, and mulls it over. There’s a little back and forth and Pyrisou explains he doesn’t wish to be on the prime material because the empire is failing and is run by a mad man.
Achille returns and Damaris asks how the conversation went. Achille says fine - it was not fine - and Nymnar comes up not long after. Achille asks how they rae and Damaris asks why, and Achille explains two people were eviscerated right in front of them and they were left talking to Pyrisou.
Pyrisou explains there’s no direct way there because the Netherworld will be watching who comes in and out of the place, so we need to go to the long way around. Once we make it to the coast we will be able to figure things out.
As we begin to travel, Zimri falls behind and asks Nymnar if he knew that they were not imperials before the disguise. Nymnar does not respond. Zimri eventually comments that he can speak to them and tell them things. Nymnar says, calmly, that he is aware that he can tell them things. Zimri is awkward and starts to move ahead, then stops and looks back to Nymnar. He comments that Soldos has some sort of faith on him - it’s why he’s here - and he wants to have the same faith that Soldos does. Nymnar’s expression tightens just a fraction before Zimri gives up and rushes up to the rest of the group.
Camp
Nymnar and Silver
We finally stop to setup camp. Zimri puts up a Cozy Cabin for everyone. Pyrisou promises to do watch and we all decide to go ahead and keep watch regardless.
Nymnar wanders off to an area that is within the sight of the cabin, but is relatively private, and begins to write in his journal. Silver comes over and starts to slowly move a croissant into his field of view. He ignores it until it obscures what he’s writing and then he sighs, takes it, and closes his journal. She begins to ask him questions and he answers some, but not others.
He comments that he has mixed feelings about seeing the mages from the Netherworld. He will not explicitly elaborate why, but he does eventually comment that he found out that the person who is now running things is (as far as HE explains it) completely mediocre on a good day and generally incompetent overall. He otherwise discusses magic with her and answers her questions about magic
Pyrisou laughs and goops down. Silver pulls her knife and almost throws it, then considers throwing it anyway. Pyrisou comments that it’s all about power, kid, and then offers to let her attack him. He goads her into it and she throws the knife. It hits him and he doesn’t seem to feel any pain. He consumes the dagger. She calls him an arrogant piece of shit (he agrees) and he comments it’s what kept him alive this long. She asks what the point of infinite life is for - shouldn’t he use it to change things? (He has, he’s killed many.) She asks what the point is and comments he should try to save a life and be someone’s hero - it’s a waste.
Achille and Damaris
Damaris approaches Achille and comments that she got him something and she hadn’t had a chance to give it to him. She presses a package into his hands and then tries to leave, but he asks where she got it. She got it in the market. Achille thanks her and Damaris comments that after everything with Silver, she thought of getting it to keep his rosary inside of. It’s a puzzle box for Sehanine. There are instructions on how to open it.
Damaris is fidgety and nervous and decides to go pray. She and Achille leave to go pray in the forest. Damaris prays to Sehanine for help with the curse, Achille prays to the goddess of redemption for both himself and so that he can help keep Nymnar from falling.
Damaris comments about the prayer to redemption rather than vengeance, and he nods and says that he has been reminded of what he here to do. She makes a comment about how if that helps him then great.
They get up to return and Achille says that he just wants Damaris to know that he appreciates her and what she does to help keep him on this path that he’s started down. She says that it means a lot that he thinks that. He says that he is here to help her with hers (the curse) and Damaris asks that there has to be something to help with this curse.
Zimri
When Zimri is alone he plays his violin and he sounds much better now than he did during combat. He notices Pyrisou watching him and Zimri invites him in. Pyrisou comments that he is too nice, and Zimri says he doesn’t need Pyrisou to lecture him about the evils of the world. Pyrisou sarcastically comments that we are all so capable.
Zimri comments that he can be useful and Pyrisou says that he doesn’t think Zimri is useless. He’s a liability to the group, but he’s not useless. It’s all about attitude. Zimri asks that not everything wants to kill us, right? Pyrisou says that statistically some things will not want to kill you, but that’s not an assumption you should make. Pyrisou says he’s been at this for a long time and he’s very hard to kill - he is just trying to tell Zimri what works. If something else works for Zimri, then good! He doesn’t need more psychopathic killers roaming the multiverse because he doesn’t want rivals.
The Next Day
We leave the camp and we continue to travel and find a cold, stony beach. Damaris can hear the voice of her curse urging her to drown someone. Damaris pulls out a piece of cloth and ties it over her eyes nervously and Pyrisou asks what is going on. Achille says not to worry about it, we’ll take care of it. Pyrisou trusts Achille and we continue on.
There was mention of a village here and Pyrisou comments that we do not need to speak with the selkies as they will not help us. Silver wants to talk to the selkies just on principle, and Zimri comments that we are on a mission and we ought not to dally. Pyrisou begins to draw out a ritual in the sand of the beach. Nymnar and Zimri help with the ritual, both of them helping with the runes.
Once finished, Pyrisou chants in the water language and a huge water swims as close to the beach as it can, speaking to Pyrisou. It’s called an elsewhale and Silver recalls that they can travel between planes via the oceans of the worlds.
We all begin to move through the water toward the whale. Silver helps Nymnar since he cannot swim. Damaris begins to try to drown Achille by trying to pull him to sea, which doesn’t work.
The Elemental Plane of Water
We all board the whale and then we make it to the elemental plane of water. Pyrisou says we ought to be able to make our way from here, but if we are unlucky then we will have to hop to the prime material plane and then get to Sigil.
We are within a cave and Pyrisou explains the cave is a place that normal law-abiding citizens avoid. If we are lucky then we will be alone in here, but there might be a group currently using this cave. We will look around the cave to look around for anything useful: something we can trade, or something to give hints of the political situation of this part of the plane.
As we enter the cave we all see plenty of things. Damaris and Zimri see someone in a cage. They don’t see much of the person in the cage, but he definitely looks emaciated and poorly - he’s been here a long time, or something else is at play. Damaris and Zimri both approach. Zimri asks Silver to pick the lock. The cage is locked with magic.
The person inside asks what is happening and who we are, and Zimri says we are trying to get him out. He comments that we clearly aren’t working for his captors. Achille asks who his captors are, and he says he won’t tell us until we free him. Achille comments that this makes him not want to free us. Zimri recognizes that this is an efreet in the plane of water, and the magic on the cage is to bind his powers.
He explains he was kidnapped by faydhaan (water djinni) and he’s here now. Damaris can tell that he’s been here a few weeks. The ifrit comments that they’ve been here a few times to give him food and drink so the assumption is that he shouldn’t die, but he doesn’t need to be happy about living. Silver gives him some croissants and then Zimri can tell that he’s deeply malnourished.
The efreet asks how we got here and Silver explains the whale, and then Silver asks how we can get out of this plane. The efreet explains that he does have a diplomatic group that he came here with that’s still in the palace. The faydhaan either used magic to hide his own capture, or the rest are in prison as well. He needs to go and find out what happened to his people and save them and they will be able to get us to Sigil or most places where we would wish to go.
We get the efreet out of the cage and we go to the camp where Pyrisou is casting communication spells to try to find us a ride to Sigil.
The efreet suggests we introduce each other and the efreet starts: Taraaq.
