Van Robbery

We start the session in combat. We were in the junk yard where we got fucked over by the rpg scav. Net had found a van that looked like it would be good to run. He manages to get inside of the van and the van still seems to be okay. Emerick does slip into the back of the van and readies himself for combat.

The van that Net and Emerick get into happens to be in tip top condition, with it even being the scav’s van. Net drives through the scav fighting with Saint and Saint jumps out of the way and is fine while the scav gets fucking hit. Net and Emerick gets the van into the trailer and the monster comes out with his RPG. He manages miss Saint and hit the jump pile instead, and everyone gets their ass in the van.

We find out the van has a mounted gun - not a machine gun, but a harpoon launcher. There is also a trap compartment.

We make it back to the base and Molly admits she is impressed with how we performed. She says it will take a few days to retrofit the van for the equipment, so she thinks Thursday or Friday it’ll be go time and Saturday is the concert. For now we just need to hang low and stay out of trouble, and don’t die (of course).

Everyone but Sulfur heads out, Sulfur staying back to help with the van.

During the Week

Emerick

Emerick does a hustle and also calls Callum to set up a time to hang out. They set up a time for Wednesday at a restaurant he likes. They schedule for October 11th.

Net

Net mostly works on fixing up his van, but he does eventually go to the warehouse for Curb Stomping Word Vomit and approaches Charley. He explains that there’s a job that he has with the group and that this should make the band have better rep. He asks if Charley has heard of Red Hopup and he says yes, he doesn’t like them.

Net explains we’re with a group of people that wants them gone, it might be worth having Charley’s name attached to it. He points out that Nuclear Chrome has been doing it and it’s been getting them mad publicity. Charley looks Net over and comments that he means well, and Net agrees. Charley admits that he does like Net a lot with all the work Net’s done in and around the band.

Charley asks if Net was in his shoes - recently got a new manager, about to crest into new freedom and away from this hell - would he continue on this path with this other band? Or would you abandon this idea and take a different path?

Net admits he’s from a family that deals in this, and he knows where this leads. He knows exactly where this goes and what happens. Net comments that were he in Charley’s shoes, he wouldn’t allow himself to be bitched like that. Charley looks him over, then says that it seems Net has a band to help him out, and extends his hand out. They shake.

Net passes along where and when to meet for the briefing. Charley comments that Net has gone to him, and made it about the band, so he is going to bring the band. Net comments that if Charley brings everyone, then there will be too many hands in the pot.

Sulfur

Sulfur finds some time to step away from the van and brings the cat - Jack - for some sympathy points. Sulfur asks if Alice is free over the weekend. Sulfur explains that there’s something interesting going on this weekend and Alice stops him to ask if it’s a party. Sulfur hesitates and Alice offers to walk and talk.

Sulfur explains he’s looking for more people to help in the acquisition of a few people. Alice asks what her cut is. Sulfur struggles and says that he’ll give 20% of the wealth of instruments gained. Alice asks if he doesn’t do this very much, and he admits he doesn’t do the payment part. She asks where to go and when, and Sulfur tries to pick her up, and she says no, no. Sulfur gives the details.

She asks who is going to be working it, and he explains the normal team (the people she knows) and some friends she doesn’t know.

Friday, October 6th, 2045

We all meet at Sulfur’s group’s warehouse. The concert is in Old Japantown tomorrow and they expect 1,000 people at the venue. Show up with firearms, but do not fire unless necessary. The goal is to kidnap the band before they even go on to perform. She doesn’t want to deal with the crowd during intermission or after the concert.

The back room has all sorts of maps and we take time to review the layout and everything.

Roles:

  • Ryne - Muscle
  • Emerick - Posing as band’s media
  • Net - Posing as band’s techie
  • Saint - Coming in with Ryne in the back

Sulfur will stay back with Molly as he is too personally involved.

Alice shows up to the meeting with a spiked baseball bat and dressed in leather and armor, very, very punk rock. Charley shows up as his own thing, as we already know.

Net and Emerick will be the talkers to get in, get the door open for everyone else to sneak in, kidnap the band, and probably execute them out in the wilds.

Should combat start out, then we will need to extract. Should gunfire starts then Molly will be forced to extract everyone any means necessary.

Molly gives us the codewords so that we know what’s going on. Do we want codenames? Molly will assign:

  • Sulfur - Cat
  • Saint - Stitch
  • Emerick - Press
  • Net - V8 (originally Car)
  • Ryne - Muscle
  • Charley - Voice
  • Alice - Punk

Net comments that he’s “Car” and gives Molly some shit, and then she rolls her eyes and changes it to V8.

Codewords:

  • Target → the targets
  • Security → staff
  • Pedestrians → obstacle

Alice speaks up and asks if she’s getting paid for this. Molly looks to Alice and then to Sulfur, and says yes - this all was really just a personal vendetta for Sulfur. If we want payment then who would fork the money over? Molly says that the only money put up was to pay off the band manager. Alice looks at us all and says she’ll do this, but she’s taking shit from them. Molly says as long as it doesn’t fuck up the mission, then sure.

Emerick, Charley, & Alice

After we are dismissed, Charley and Alice give Emerick a ride back to the warehouse.

Charley has a question: he asks Emerick what his opinion of Sulfur and the rest of his lot are like, and Emerick explains that he likes Sulfur, but he runs with a dangerous crew. Emerick does not speak of Sulfur’s personal trauma, but he does explain the torture that had happened while he was there, which Charley and Alice do admit is fucked up.

Emerick explains that his understanding is that once this job is done, we do not know them, we never knew they existed. Charley will take credit for fucking over Red Hopup, which will also pull focus off of Sulfur’s group, which they likely want.

Shopping

Ryne goes and picks up some smoke grenades.

Sulfur sells his incendiary ammunition so that he can buy plastic explosives (C4).

Net heads home to work on his van.

Saint goes home and unwinds to be ready for the mission.

Emerick, Charley, & Alice

As we are driving back to the warehouse, we see - in the distance - a few cars come speeding down the road. As we are talking, one of the cars turns off in front of us and stops dead center and cuts us off. A guy hops out of the car and he looks like a member of Nuclear Chrome. He’s a grunt, and pulls his gun out. The other car pulls up to the side and in the window, driving, is baseball bat.

Baseball bat chucks a molotov at the CSWV van, dealing a ton of damage to it.
