Session Date: 06/15/2025
After Combat
Combat begins with the kalidah, with only one in view at this time. We are incredibly effective, with Nymnar exploding a thrall and killing two of the kalidah at once (and hitting Silver and Achille). Once the first two are dead, the third decides it’s a very good time to leave.
Once they are safe, Silver rushes over to Nymnar and asks what the fuck was going on, holding a knife and a wooden stake. Nymnar comments he’s not a vampire, and then she pulls out a silvered knife. He comments he’s not a werewolf, and she gets more and more frustrated. She calls him an asshole and he simply stares at her before Nymnar moves to crouch next to Achille as he pulls organs out of the kalidah and drinks its blood - Nymnar taking notes on the anatomy.
Meanwhile, Zimri is arguing with Achille about letting him heal him. Damaris joins in Achille tries to explain that it’s a waste of resources to try to heal him. Achile explains that he heals very fast and there is no reason to do so. Zimri gives up and walks away to treat Silver’s wounds, and Achille finally gives up and lets Damaris tend to him.
We get everyone put back together and we realize Zimri has never been on an adventure before. Achille asks Zimri if he really wants to be here, and Silver comments that just because a Seer saw him here doesn’t mean he needs to be here. Achille warns Zimri that things will become far more dangerous, and this was never going to be a simple mission - otherwise a courier would be sent rather than them.
Damaris nervously asks Achille if she should share and he says it’s up to her. Damaris explains - mostly to Zimri - that she’s cursed and will try to drown all of us if she is near water and cannot keep it under control. She gives Zimri an awkward pat and his tail wags a little, hoping nobody sees it.
Zimri goes to clean some bandages and Achille comes up to wash his hands. Achille asks how he’s doing, and Zimri explains that it’s different to actually live through this and it’s different from the stories. Achille comments that Zimri is a person that experiences things, and Zimri asks if Achille is not a person. Achille asks if he’s not made that clear, and Zimri comments that we are an adventuring party and we are all friends, right? Achille comments that that is how the stories go. Zimri comments that we will be fine, and Achille lies and agrees - Zimri agrees. Zimri returns to the party with Achille walking behind Zimri and shakes his head no.
The River
We finally move forward and there is a river. Damaris has an internal struggle where she sees Zimri and it seems like he’d be so easy to drown. She freezes as she has a moment where she remembers something about drowning, and then freezes. Silver asks if Damaris if she needs to cross herself, and she comments that perhaps that’s not a bad idea. She’s nervous.
Achille suggests going across with Damaris and binding her hands, then coming back to get the rest of them across the river. Silver gives Achille a rope to take across to create a guide rope. He ties it around his waist and they approach the river, and suddenly Damaris grips Achille’s throat and starts to drag him to the water. He manages to break the grapple and goes with her down to the water. She keeps trying to grab his throat but eventually she manages to come back as she and Achille are both in the water. Achille encourages her to come across the water.
They both make it across the river. Achille ties her hands to the tree and then ties the guide rope to the tree as well. He realizes that Nymnar can’t swim and returns, and so Zimri and Silver go across, followed by Nymnar and Achille. Achille retrieves the rope and we continue on.
Nymnar notices two things as we continue:
- It’s warmer here - as far as I am aware, it’s not supposed to be this warm in spring.
- I don’t notice any more fey.
Silver and Damaris both know it’s too warm. Nymnar doesn’t mention it for a while, but then speaks to Achille, asking if he’s seen any fey around, and that they seem to be absent here. He hadn’t, but he pays attention and notices it.
We make it to a small meadow with a tree that is clearly where we are to enter the Feywild We form a chain and walk around the tree. Order:
Nymnar → Silver → Zimri → Damaris → Achille
We walk around the tree and there is a subtle shifting of the planes. As we grow near the Feywild, we smell smoke. When the shift finishes, the forest is on fire, with it absolutely raging. We see numerous figures walking around, setting things alight. It’s not long before we see someone come out of the fire and walk up toward us with a torch in his hand.
Nymnar casts impending doom on him as he approaches and comments that he should be easier to hit now, and combat begins. We manage to take down his soldiers and he takes a knee. He starts teleporting and winds up in a vision in front of a resplendent throne. Everyone here is wearing masks, and there is a woman that looks at the commander we just downed and she comments that something ill has befallen her husband.
