Last Time

Mary established a way to get into the secure wing where she met Zada Nix’s brother, Vedym Nyx, who is a vampire. The original Kincaid body is here as well, which he’s asked us to just kill that body as he no longer uses it. The cell for Axamonar was inaccessible since the warden personally attends to that. Bosch has made contact with the professor of Mathematical Chrimes (Profesor Mathias Odonaghue). Professor Math dislikes Sonny Breakwater. Zolardo’s eaten a corpse in the morgue. Bosch is otherwise giong around and slowly stirring the pot. Tabby was shadowing Mary and has the best idea of what the place looks like. Faylen was put to work in the prison library and otherwise facilitated messages.

It’s become clear to us that the guards do not seem to particularly care - as long as there isn’t anything blatant, such as a fight or uprising, then they are content to let things be. We also can feel the fear effect tugging at the back of our minds - it’s clear that this is permeating throughout the place and will affect us and the guards regardless.

Mary’s been voluntold to take food to the dangerous prisoners. She’s been given a special skeleton key to open all the doors except for Axamonar’s. Talitha was able to sneak around into Axamonar’s cell and found that he wasn’t really talkative and that he wasn’t aware of things that were going on.

Faylen would be able to boost the magic key that Bosch had pickpocketed to make it strong enough to open Axamonar’s door, but an alarm would likely sound after that.

Session Start

We begin discussing the plan. Beitris comments that perhaps the best option is to crash the prison - not with everyone on there, mind, but in general. There’s a teleportation circle that can be operated because not everyone here is a mage, but it’s a question of how to actually do it - whether everyone lines up or we overload it and teleport everyone all at once.

We discuss the other aspects: we need leaders among the prisoners who can organize things once everything starts. Sonny Breakwater and Professor Math are the two that stand out, but one is a leader while the other is an organizer and the two don’t necessarily like each other. We are reminded that Sonny doesn’t necessarily like the Breakwater Company since they were the ones that threw him in prison. The two are going to have to figure out how to work together given the situation.

Bosch cheers Faylen on to enchant Tabby’s war razor in case there is a confrontation with the warden and it’s easier to kill the projection of the warden and delay dealing with it.

Tabby and Beitris

Tabby approaches and opens a dialogue about the escape. Sonny Breakwater comments that he knows of Tabby and is a big fan since the Breakwater Company hates him, and Tabby explains that Sonny needs to start a conversation with Professor Math. They discuss back and forth and Sonny ultimately agrees that he will help us out and create a fight with Prof Math so that there is a suitable distraction.

Mary and Faylen

Mary and Faylen approaches Prof Math and Mary comments that a friend mentions that he’s the man to talk math with, and motions towards a table with more room. Prof Math asks if Faylen is a young man of higher learning and Faylen excitedly talks about math theory until they sit down. Mary and Faylen then explain that they are here in the prison by choice as they are here to free Sage Axamonar. We offer to free him and remove his manacles and he considers it.

He decides that going out in a blaze of glory is better than rotting here. Faylen reassures him that we are going to get out of here without the dying part. It’s clear that Prof Math is doing the calculations and doesn’t think that Faylen is correct, but he’s happy to help and make things happen.

Bosch

Bosch searches for Zolardo. He eventually finds Zarg chewing on something. He promises he’ll only eat the guards and Bosch doesn’t seem bothered. He comments that we are going to find a very interesting corpse and Zarg can have it as long as he promises to bring it back and show the others the corpse. Zarg asks who it is, and Bosch thinks it’ll be funnier if he doesn’t share the surprise yet. Zarg comments that Bosch and the others of the party saved him and so - at least for now - Bosch is the boss, though Zarg can’t promise the other Zolardos might not gun for him.

The Plan in Motion

Mary gets volunteered for taking food to the secure area. Right as the doors are open, the guard gets called off to deal with the riot and we head down into the area. Mary gives Faylen the key and he overloads the key a little too much and all of the doors open at once.

Axamonar is kneeling in the center of the room with his eyes closed. He’s chained four different directions to the floor and cannot move. Faylen examines the magic circle around Axamonar and he sees numerous things: the circle is draining power from Axamonar’s android ab-laden body. Faylen can see the flow of the magic and he can reverse it and open the chains. Faylen does so and his body is freed and then it topples over face down on the floor.

Mary picks him up and turns him over. She examines him and comments to Faylen that she isn’t sure what’s going on. He looks Axamonar over and notices that the core that houses his soul is gone. The Warden appears and comments that he’s known all along what’s going on and he’d hoped that it was us that would come to get Axamonar out. He’s holding Axamonar’s soul orb and crushes it in his hand. Bosch immediately rushes over to start picking up the broken shards that fell off of the orb as Faylen throws a spell at the Warden angrily. Tabby manages to land the blow and vanquish the projection of the Warden.

It’s night when we wind up on the ground below as the castle crashes down into the water. Faylen looks up at the sky and notices that something is wrong with the stars, but he isn’t quite sure what.
