Session Date: 11/18/2022
As a reminder: this is the last set of notes that were handwritten, and I did not write down any notes of what happened outside of Calthel’s view, so I don’t have the full notes. :(
We find no signs of magic in the Chaplain’s room, and it is clear that she did not let the aberrations in as they arrived after she had left. Under the bed we see signs of multiple creatures, with one that left behind a mucous that does not match the lighthouse goo. There are at least two small creatures: the thing that had the psychic projection, and some sort of goo thing. Thanks to Sarras and Ships, we follow a ceiling slime trailer to Honoria’s room and kill a measil and a choker. It’s clear that the creature that made the psychic projection is long gone - either via a plane shift, or a teleportation spell. The most important thing is that we have proof of aberration activity now, and everyone is aware of it.
We have a few days of downtime and each do our own things.
Calthel & Kerran
Calthel searches the index of the Grammary of Divination with Kerran to try to find the creature that Kerran had seen. Calthel figures he saw it either in the Book of Sigdrifa or the Brown Book of Ninnaine.
- Book of Sigdrifa
- Only found at the Grammary
- Could request a copy to be made and sent
- Very, very expensive
- Would take months of work
- Would not include spells and enchantments
- Could review while at the Grammary
- Brown Book of Ninniane
- The Marquis has a copy of this book, so I confirm that this is not what we are searching for after all
Calthel confirms it’s the Book of Sigdrifa and he drafts up a letter to the College of Divination requesting if there are any copies nearer to the Marquis that he could review.
Afterwards, Calthel searches Honoria’s desk and notes for what she was researching. He finds a spellbook with rituals that he decides to keep while searching.
Honoria’s Notes
She is trying to replicate experiments from the Book of Lir. Lir was the King of Learinmath after his queen sister disappeared. He tried to push the edges of divination magic to find her. The experiments broke his mind and ultimately killed him. There is an order of knights still searching for the queen.
Honoria appeared to be attempting to improve upon Lir’s work to make it safer, and it’s clear that she overestimated her abilities.
Kerran, on the other hand, finds the staff regarding him better, and that he isn’t brushed off anymore.
The Group
The day of the knighting is upon us and we fast, and then are knighted. Afterwards, we hear petitions with Petra:
- A dispute about if the miller is weighing goods fairly (dismissed)
- Shepherd has lambs being born with patches of scales
- Farmers are having scarecrows being stolen
- Ongoing dispute of boundaries with the Nuns of St. Ninnian from the Isle of Nimmaton (druids)
We are being sent to the north to help the shepherd about the sheep, and the farmers about the scarecrows. We will head first to Traeg Breda, and then NE to Norrenshire.
There is also a note about another book - I have a feeling this is something Sarras may have looked up or noted, based on what I recall from conversations around this.
The Breviary Umbroram of Javeth
A recollection of Javeth’s younger years. It details life in the Underdark and his attempts to recall it. The writing is incredibly unprofessional, and it is very disturbing if it is accurate (eating bugs to survive, etc).
