Leviathan
The door to the south where the party was opens and Leviathan, who was ransacking an office, sees a flood of light as the door opens and an alarm starts blaring right as he finishes planting a virus at the bottom of the architecture here. Before this happened, he had scrounged some documents from this office. He managed to find his own personal case file
Vague Rumor: Email communication from Sazsa to Juice stating that this is the calendar that they have of Night Markets that they will be attending and doing business with for the rest of the year. There are three more Night Markets that have yet to happen that are going to happen in the future.
He - seated in a walking chair - turns to head out of the office.
The Party
The party sees Leviathan come out of the office. He looks like he might have worked here, but his suit is all messed up now with wrinkles and whatnot, which isn’t professional. He’s in a cyberchair that has cyberlimbs with big knucks on it, which is incredibly unusual for a cyberchair.
Phoenix chimes in to say that Leviathan looks important and she wonders if he’s who we’re here for. Leviathan asks who we are, and Phoenix explains that we are here to loot the place and we heard a rumor of something going on here - Emerick mentions we were looking into something called Project Leviathan. As we’re arguing about who’s what and who, another door opens and an executive stumbles out of another room. He comments that he’s been trapped for forever.
The executive asks who we all are, and then there’s a scuffle as Leviathan says that the executive is coming with us. The executive isn’t pleased with the idea and eventually agrees to go with us but he’ll leave once we are out. The executive starts to run and Saint runs past and pushes the exec over. Sulfur handcuffs him and Emerick helps haul him up as we all run out and leave this building, running from the building as far as we can.
As we glance behind us and get to the surface, the exec looks at Sulfur and whispers that he’ll contact his driver and he needs five minutes. Leviathan and Emerick overhear this, and Leviathan springs into action to try to shock the exec. Sulfur jerks the exec away from the approaching Leviathan and tells him to stop it. He drops an EMP grenade and when the EMP goes off, the building explodes.
We realize we need to get moving quickly and the exec explains there’s a bar we can go to and his driver can pick him up. We walk toward the bar and the driver comes up and tells us to uncuff the executive. Sulfur begins to uncuff him and suggests that he goes with the exec to keep him safe, and the exec agrees if it’ll keep him safe.
Leviathan is ready to tackle the guy, and Sulfur pushes the man ahead. Saint tries to distract by asking about his well-being, and then Emerick starts to get between them. When Leviathan seems ready to go anyway, Alice steps in and tells him to back down. Phoenix also puts herself in between things as Saint readies a pistol in case Leviathan tries to charge.
Once the exec and Sulfur leaves, Phoenix notices Leviathan eating some papers and she takes the paper and hands it to Emerick, who reads it and can tell that it’s the list of night markets as outlined above.
Night Market Dates:
- October 13th
- October 18th
- October 23rd
Sulfur & Anton Jr
Anton Jr. is the name of the exec - his father died quite recently. Sulfur apologizes for the loss of his dad, then asks what Anton was doing locked up there. He explains that the place went dark and he got stuck because of it. Sulfur asks when things went dark, and Anton explains that it’s been a little over 24 hours that the place went dark and into a frenzy because his father died. He had gone in to get some documents and things went dark and the place went on lock down. Anton asks what Sulfur was doing down there.
Sulfur lies and convinces Anton that he’s a gun runner. Anton believes it and comments that those that know the darker parts of the world are used to the chaos, and that there’s a lot of money in this. Sulfur talks big game about connections and sets things up to be a business partner with Anton.
Sulfur asks about Leviathan and Anton explains that it’s just a cyberchair with extra bells and whistles and it was going to be standard with everyone in the program. Sulfur says it’s clear he’s pretty pissed, and he doesn’t care about what’s between the two of them. Sulfur says he’ll keep an eye on Leviathan and will handle him. Anton says that if Sulfur keeps him updated on information about Leviathan, he’ll pay Sulfur for it.
Sulfur agrees and then gets out of the car. Once the driver goes away, he goes home and tells Jack the cat that he’s got a nice in, and pets his ear, then goes out to buy a car later.
The Party & Leviathan
Sans Sulfur, of course.
We make it to the bar and Saint buys us all some food and a round of beer. We all go to a dark corner booth that’s quiet and as isolated as you can and sit down. The food comes out and we have to explain what food and eating is to Leviathan. After that, he pulls out a gun to ask us questions, and all of us freak out and tell him to put it away and to just talk to us.
He ultimately explains he’s frustrated that we let the exec go. When we ask about it he has no real reason except that the exec is the only one that was alive there. He ultimately lets slip that the best way to extract information is from the dead, which has everyone absolutely stunned.
Leviathan comments that he’s heard of Emerick here and there. Phoenix asks how he’s heard of Emerick. He says that he heard from “him” about Emerick. Phoenix asks who that is, and Leviathan doesn’t answer. Emerick comments that he imagines it’s probably Juice, given the context, and Phoenix thinks that makes sense. Emerick comments that Leviathan probably knows who Ogre is as well, which he seems to recognize the name as well.
Phoenix asks if Emerick thinks it’s worth it to go to the night markets, and Emerick says that he thinks that they should check them out for sure - worst case is that they just go to a night market and go shopping. There’s probably something interesting there that would be worth the investigation, however.
Leviathan starts looking through his archives he’s downloading and he finds the flight logs. He finds that Sazsa flew from a ship at sea to the building, and then to the band hq, then back to the building we just blew up, then to Arasaka’s HQ. There’s another piece of information for another location to be worked on at a later date, but that email was sent a while ago, and the facility start date was to go live on the 16th.
Alice and Phoenix leave together and Saint offers to take Leviathan back to his place for the night to rest. There’s a lot of reluctance on Leviathan’s end, but Saint promises there will be no cutting and it’s just for the single night.
Leviathan sits up and looks to Emerick. He says that he’s not done with Emerick yet and then they exchange numbers. Leviathan calls him right there to make sure the number works, and then they leave to go to Saint’s place.
When everyone leaves, Emerick is alone and moves to the bar. The exec from earlier comes up to the bar and sits next to Emerick. He asks how the week’s been, and Emerick says that it’s been a long week. The exec says that he’s had a rough week too - his father’s passed and the business has gone under, but the business partners seem to be doing a lot better. Anton Jr says that his father spoke highly of Emerick because he was a man of results, he did what was asked of him without question - Anton could use someone like him. He says that just because Emerick might be good at something doesn’t mean is that there is use - he asks where Emerick was the night that Juice was killed.
Emerick comments that he was there because he was living in the warehouse, he worked with the band. Anton asks if Emerick was involved, and Emerick gives a non-committal answer that it was a spectacle, hard to miss. Anton agrees that much is true, and he admits he wouldn’t know what he’d do if he figured out who killed his father.
Emerick is quiet for a moment, then admits that his own father was a rather shitty person. He comments that he doesn’t know what kind of relationship Anton had with Juice, but Emerick was never really able to confront his father as a kid - he ran away rather than found the strength to pull the trigger, and made sure that his father could never find him. Surely Anton could understand the complex feelings that might exist there. He pauses as he glances back down to his beer. Emerick admits that if someone where to kill his own father, he would have a rather complex mix of emotions: relief, perhaps, because his father is gone, but also anger, because it was his father to kill, you know? Anton is quiet for a moment then comments that he believes that little boy has grown up, and he’s found out who killed his father. He asks Emerick how much blood is on his hands to wind up here, and then leaves.
Seo comes in and greets Emerick enthusiastically now that the relationship doesn’t have to be hidden, and Seo notices something is wrong and asks Emerick if he’s okay. Emerick says that he’ll explain in the car, and then Seo picks Emerick up and carries him out to the car so they can speak. The driver takes the scenic route to let them talk.
Emerick explains that he had a conversation with Juice’s son and he figured out that Emerick’s the one that killed Juice. Seo explains that Emerick hasn’t come to terms with who he is yet, and that he knows how he got what he has. It’s easy to get lost in it and relish it, but Emerick is just now facing this reality, and Anton Jr is the first one to just throw it back into his face. Seo comments that it was either Juice or Emerick that would have had to die, and that it had to wind up this way. He also thinks that Emerick had to go though this, and that little boy that was scared of his father is grown up. The two are glad that it wound up this way rather than the other, and they get back to the warehouse and go to bed.

Net
Net is let out and finds Trash Tablet sitting outside in his car. Tab offers to drive Net home and expects to be filled in, and Net checks his Agent to see the message from Emerick saying that he’ll explain later, and Net says he’s not the most filed in. He reassures Tab that there’s nothing that they need to be worried about and nothing will be a problem. Tab offers to buy him breakfast and they go out somewhere for breakfast.
Net explains his part in the gambit about playing the crazy homeless person and getting arrested to lure the cops away, and that’s all he did. About this point, Net realizes Tab isn’t doing this out of the kindness of his heart: he’s here on business. Tab says he’s glad it went off without a hitch, but there’s concerns regarding the remnants of Juice’s gang: he had his fingers in a lot of different things, and with him gone, there’s a lot of problems. Tab is happy that the group got to have their closure, but the family is fighting a war, and they need all the help they can get. Anything that can get them a leg up.
Net comments that Trash is acting like he’s a fixer, and Tab says that Net likely knows someone. They’re on the same side, here, and the gang needs some help - Trash comments the group seems ready to leave the ship as its sinking. Net asks what he needs, and Trash says there’s probably some gigs that need to be done while cleaning up the remnants. Juice’s gang is playing dirty and hopped up on something or other that makes them a real pain in the ass. If Net could round up a few people, they could run a gig and get some real progress done to keep the territory and people safe - it also means the territory expands.
Net asks if this is Tab asking for it, or if this is Tab being his uncle’s mouthpiece. Trash says that they’re all one family: whether Trash is asking personally, or relaying the message. They’re family and this is a genuine request. People have died because of these people running rampant because the commanding Soviets have left.
Trash says that Net is capable of saying no, but to do so costs more than the gang looking the other way. Trash says that Net caused this. He may not have pulled the trigger, but he was certainly in on it. Net agrees to help with the clean up. Trash apologizes for being a hard-ass and Net brushes it off.
Tab admits that he just wanted to talk to Net before his uncle got to him. Tab points out that he picks up information before anyone does anything with it because he knows that it’s important to know things - in this case, talking to Net beforehand helps make things more amenable between him and his uncle so that his uncle doesn’t have to drag Net kicking and screaming back.
Net says he has people to talk to, and Tab agrees that everyone has people to talk to. He hands Net his keys and Net says he’ll see what he can do. Tab will call him in a week.
Net finally responds to Emerick and says they need to talk. They settle on meeting up for lunch.
Sulfur
The car is delivered. The first thing that Sulfur does is send Net a text asking if he wants in on a business deal, and the second is to text Phoenix to ask her to look into his wife for 1,000ed per piece of information.
Emerick messages him an hour or so later with information on Mayday Hyde was at the Red Hopup concert the previous night, and she was seen back stage. She was headed back to their HQ. She’s not looking good, marks of abuse obvious on her. He attaches photos of her that are in a compressed folder with plenty of warnings.
Meanwhile, he reaches out to Net with a possible business venture, and Net responds with inviting him to the same lunch he’s going to meet Emerick at.
Net, Emerick, Sulfur
Net grabs a booth and Emerick meets up with him. Net warns Emerick he invited Sulfur and Emericks says that it’s not a problem.
Net starts with how there’s an unforeseen side effect of our antics, something personal. Emerick gets what he’s saying, and Net explains that there’s a power vacuum after Juice was killed. There’s a moment of quiet and Emerick chimes in that Net’s uncle wants help cleaning up, right?
Anton texts Emerick saying to come to an address at 23:50 and to come alone. Anton admits that he will come alone as well, and they’ll bury the hatchet tonight.
Sulfur comes in and offers a business venture to Net - smuggling. Net says no immediately, not wanting to run drugs. Sulfur says that it’s not drugs - Net needs to be the head engineer for a fleet. The client is Anton Jr and Net immediately flips his top and Emerick butts in to explain that Sulfur doesn’t know that it was Anton Jr. Sulfur doesn’t know that name and Emerick explains to Sulfur that Anton Jr is Juice’s son. That complicates things, Sulfur admits.
Net says he will do it as long as he doesn’t smuggle drugs, people, or for gangs. Sulfur agrees to this. The two come up with a plan and Net agrees after he recognizes that he can absolutely get out and throw Sulfur under the bus. The final clause that Net demands is a team of techs to work with. Sulfur has an idea: how hard would it be to gather up a group of individuals - a nomad pack - to work under them. Net rejects this and suggests a new thing: Sulfur hire people and pay for everything and Net will make it happen. They shake, with Emerick as witness.
Sulfur thanks Emerick for finding all of the information he did and giving it to him so quickly - he’s filled with hope, now. Emerick looks a bit grim and Net catches on that something is wrong. They get through lunch and as Sulfur is leaving, Emerick pulls out a card for Katchya and gives it to him. After Sulfur is gone, Emerick comments to Net that he never looked at the pictures. Emerick shows one picture of Mayday and Net understands why Emerick said that they are going to have to invade a place to get her. Net is going to go get some cyberware to help, and it’ll help a lot.
Leviathan & Saint
They get up and Leviathan has turned the bed into an absolute nest. They go down for breakfast and Saint lets Leviathan try some real orange juice and it blows his mind. Saint then takes him to work at the clinic for the day. Leviathan tries to find an access point to hack into, but doesn’t find anything in the clinic.
Leviathan asks Saint about more advanced neuralware (he wants to know about neuroports that do not yet exist), asks about how humanity is impacted by cyberware, what other things people might get and why. There’s a rather lengthy conversation.
Emerick & Anton
At 11pm there’s another message from Anton that is a picture of a Perseus. Anton comments that it could just be him talking to himself, but he feels that this might help make him understand Emerick better.
Emerick heads out to meet up with Anton and they wind up in a nicer part of the city closer to where the celebs are, on a nice little overlook. Anton comments that Emerick still hasn’t stepped into the shoes he’s been given. He asks if Emerick has anything to say or ask, and Emerick calls this senseless. Anton points out that he’s still here, so it can’t be meaningless - is he here for the gratification? Some sense of pride? Emerick says that he derives no pride or joy from this, but that he knows that if he did not show up, then others would suffer. Either way, this would end tonight - to which Anton agreed.
They begin fighting and it’s not long before Emerick manages to clip Anton’s spine and the man crumples to the ground. Emerick walks up to him shaking his head and says, “you were a fool to come here,” and then puts a bullet in his head before he has the chance to say anything. Emerick gets back into the cab and goes back home.
