Session Start

We had landed on the island of Dominia. It’s raining with lightning bolts striking around the island. We were chasing an iron-clad ship operated by azers, dwarf-like fire elementals. They went into a bay and disembarked. There are many small constructs there working around. Some of the crew goes up to the asylum atop the hill, while three of them stay.

We land in port and Serina disembarks and announces that we are looking for Pietra van Riese. They look at each other and then back to Serina, and tells us to go away, there’s nothing for us to find here. We should leave, or they’ll send us to the lands of death. Serina simply wishes to talk.

They have no desire to talk, and Trouble tries to speak up to perform and have them lay off of us. It doesn’t work, and combat starts. It’s a tough battle, but we manage to take care of the three azer and take some time to rest afterwards. Atheya patches almost everyone up, and Arkuda heals up Trouble (who Atheya was unable to help much). After, he asks Atheya if she would like some healing, and she politely declines. He comments that she looks rather hurt, and she explains that holy healing actually hurts her rather than helps her.

Arkuda shrugs it off and Arseid comes up and tells everyone to look at what she can do: she turns into a small, cute little fox. Trouble immediately goes and picks Arseid up. Arseid squirms around like a discontent cat, and Arkuda and Atheya both speak up to say that Trouble can’t just pick Arseid up because she’s turned into a fox: she’s still a person, and may not like it. Trouble asks what about the fact that she’s smaller and more vulnerable, and the two explain that it doesn’t matter as there is no danger, and Foxseid speaks up to say that she prefers to be carried at a taller height anyway, if she’s to be carried.

Trouble puts Foxseid down and Arseid immediately goes over to Atheya and essentially requests to be picked up through her body language. Atheya picks her up and holds her.

Arkuda asks if Serina would like some healing, and Serina glances at Atheya to wordlessly ask if they should tell the group. Atheya looks back to Serina and gives a small shrug: she does not mind telling them, it’s up to what Serina thinks is best. Serina sighs and explains that the two of them are dhampir. Arseid asks what that is, and Serina explains that they are children of both a vampire and a mortal. Trouble asks who the freaky parent was, and Atheya, Serina, and Arkuda look to Trouble, confused. Serina and Atheya ultimately explain that their mothers were the mortals, while their fathers are the vampires. Serina clarifies that she’s not confident that it was willing on her mother’s part, and Atheya offers no insight into such matters for herself.

As they discuss, Arseid clambers up to Atheya’s shoulder to perch there, which Atheya lets her do.

We all rest for a little longer, then collect our things and agree to search for someone else to speak to so that we can inquire further about Pietra. As we ready, it’s dark for a moment as the clouds thicken, and then lightning strikes and we see a man has suddenly appeared next to us, and he welcomes us to his island.
